Preparing PLA terrain for painting
Prepare the surface, test your primer and care for PLA terrain on your gaming table.
Inspect the surface first
Inspect the parts and remove loose dust with a soft brush before painting. Match cleaning to the supplied finish. Glued, filled or painted parts may need different preparation from a bare PLA print.
Test paint on a hidden area
Choose primer and paint according to their manufacturer’s guidance for plastic surfaces. Test adhesion and the result on a small hidden area. Apply thin coats and follow drying times to preserve detail.
Agree the supplied finish
Specify whether you need a print for painting yourself or another finish. Store completed pieces so small projections are protected. Check the material and supplied version on each product.
